Atlantic Cutaway Supreme

This guitar was constructed for a close friend in Florida, Stu Sarjeant. It is a very unusual instrument, incorporating many new design elements. For instance, the cutaway is modeled on the Maccaferri instruments of the 1930's yet the body is a modern shape. The guitar's kerfing is the "reverse" type which makes the sides much stiffer than the usual arrangement. The soundhole is larger than ordinary. The neck is 5 ply/mahogany/maple/walnut/maple/mahogany which makes the neck incredibly stiff. As a result, this small guitar has terrific volume and bass, yet the trebles are crystal clear and balanced. The frets are semi-hemispherical meaning, simply, that the frets do not extend to the end of the fretboard. From a player's perspective, the feel is extraordinary since there are no fret ends to deal with. Kudo's to Harry Fleishmann for developing and sharing the concept! All binding is koa wood and all trim is abalone shell. A very unique instrument for a very dear friend!

This instrument is koa and spruce. As you can see Stu wanted a tree of life fretboard and abalone everywhere. The binding on the instrument is koa as you can see in other views.
